Introduction

Anime Yokocho (“we,” “us,” or “the service”) is operated from Tokyo by the founder, with incorporation as Novalis Inc. underway in Japan. This policy explains what information we collect when you visit www.animeyokocho.com, how we use it, and the choices you have.

We keep the surface area deliberately small: we don't sell user data, we don't run third-party advertising, and we don't track you across other websites.

Information We Collect

Google Analytics 4

We use Google Analytics 4 (measurement ID G-CGDWB2DGQ0) to understand how visitors use the site — which pages are popular, where sessions start, how long people read an article. GA4 collects pseudonymous usage data (approximate city-level location derived from IP, browser, device, referrer, pages viewed, time on page). IP addresses are not stored in full by GA4 — they are used for geolocation and then discarded. We do not upload any personally identifiable information (email, name) to GA4.

Supabase Authentication

When you sign up or log in, authentication is handled by Supabase. We store your email address, an optional display name/username, and a hashed session token so you stay logged in. Your bookmarks, visits, and reviews are stored against your Supabase user ID. You can delete your account at any time from /my/settings, which removes your profile and related records.

Cookies

We use a small number of cookies:

• Essential: Supabase session cookies to keep you signed in. A ay-theme key in localStorage remembers your light/dark preference.
• Analytics: Google Analytics sets its own cookies (_ga, _ga_*) to deduplicate sessions. Blocking these via your browser or an ad-blocker does not break the site.

How We Use Your Information

We use the data above to:

• Operate, maintain, and improve the service (performance, content decisions).
• Remember your preferences (theme, subscriptions, bookmarks).
• Send newsletters and drop alerts when you subscribe. Each email has an unsubscribe link in the footer.
• Respond to your requests (support, Buy-For-Me quotes, inquiries).
• Detect abuse and prevent spam.

Data Sharing

We do not sell or rent your personal information. We share data only with the following sub-processors, strictly for operating the service:

• Vercel — site hosting and log storage.
• Supabase — authentication, user profile, and application data storage.
• Sanity — content management (articles, events, news). No end-user data.
• Google Analytics 4 — aggregated usage analytics.
• Resend — outbound email delivery (newsletters, drop alerts).

We may disclose information if required by law, or to protect the service and its users from fraud or abuse.

Your Rights

EU / UK Users (GDPR)

If you are in the European Union or the United Kingdom, you have the right to access, rectify, or delete the personal data we hold about you; to restrict or object to our processing; to receive a copy of your data in a portable format; and to withdraw any consent you have previously given. To exercise any of these rights, email contact@animeyokocho.com. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.

California Users (CCPA)

California residents have the right to know what personal information we have collected, request deletion, and opt out of the sale of personal information. We do not sell personal information, so no opt-out action is required. To submit an access or deletion request, email contact@animeyokocho.com.

Data Retention

• Subscriber emails: retained until you unsubscribe or delete your account.
• Authenticated account data: retained while your account is active; deleted within 30 days of account deletion.
• Analytics: Google Analytics 4 retention is set to 14 months, after which event-level data is automatically removed.
• Support correspondence: retained for up to 2 years for reference, then deleted.

Children's Privacy

Anime Yokocho is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 13. If you believe a child has submitted personal information to us, please contact contact@animeyokocho.com and we will delete it.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be announced via the newsletter or an on-site banner. The “Last updated” date at the top of the page always reflects the current version.
